thinking about taking a trip to Port A on Memorial day weekend. Looking for ideas of what to do, where to fish, so forth. Never been there before, taking the wife, so it wont be a total fishing trip, but would like to fish some. Piers, jetties, wading, etc.
thanks

HORACE CALDWELL PIER on the Island or the North or South Jetties just up the beach to the NorthEast of the pier. If you come into Port A from Aransas Pass, as soon as you cross the ferry there is a Jettie Boat that runs every 2 hours. It will take you from the Island to the North Jettie and drop you off. Returns back in 2 hour intervals to drop off/pick up. Get on the first boat about 7:00 a.m. weather permitting and you should have a good morning fish for everything from Reds to Spanish Macks. Just dont miss the LAST BOAT or you will be SLEEPING on the Jettie. The jettie boat cost $10 so inexpensive and practical. Good Luck to ya and be safe.

If you want to do some wade fishing i recommend bird island basin..ive done good there in the past with reds and trout. Live shrimp under a popping cork or free lined is the ticket right now since theres not any croaker yet. If you come into port a over the jfk just keep going straight through the lights were you would normaly turn to go into port a. your gonna go down that road for about 15 minutes and youl run right in to it. goodluck

Remember that Memorial day weekend will bring lots of people to the area. From Port A there are many places to fish, depending on the wind and the weather.

I agree with spec trout - bird island would be a good choice. However, there are many other area nearby that could be fun and productive.

Do you want to wade? Fish from the jetties?

Port A jetties, Wilson's cut, Fish Pass, jetties and bay (wade), Packery jetties and wade.......... you are in the middle of it. Plus Rockport is not that far away.

Where are you staying? For a great meal try Shells there in Port A.
