I was wondering if anyone out there knew why the lake on Denton Tap road is closed. I believe it is called North Lake. It is a little north of where Beltline turns into Denton Tap in Coppell. There is a power plant of some kind on the lake, so winter fishing might be good. This lake has been closed for at least 3 years now. I bet there is some great fishing in that lake since it has been resting for so long. Any information would be appreciated.

The hardest thing about fishing is figuring out what the fish want to eat.

Do a search and you will find all kinds of info on Northlake. I grew up fishing that lake and it was really a good lake for numbers. Then the hydrilla showed up and the size of bass started getting better too over the next several years. We caught several bass over 6 lbs there and our largest was over 8 lbs. There was a good population of 2-4 lbers too just before they closed the lake. Actually, it was closed before 9-11 and that probably hasn't effected it's reopening. Like I said, do a search in this forum and you will find lots of information.

I used to work at that TXU plant. They did close the lake to the public and the employees, but there is a developer that is about to build on the south side. Coppell and Irving aren't to happy about it.
It has crystal clear water with lots of fish. I've been told by some of the plant workers that they use to catch a wide variety of fish in good amounts there. Espacially in the discharge channel. Stays warm all year round due to the plant.

I think it's going to be exclusive to the developement, and only the south shore. No watercraft.

I use to fish this lake also it did have good numbers ,the game warden said the lack of growth was due to no run off and the fish were starved.8# was as big as I ever heard of but it sure wasnt me.Every time I went by 10-a.m you were run off the lake by skiers and lake lice you know (sea-doos)It had a real good crappie population also. The big fight was over maintenance and the city of Irving closed it. coppell is really fighting the new proposed apt.project. thats all I know!!!
