I installed a new gauge last year and now it either stays down or jumps up. Is it the gauge or the sending unit. This is a 2000 model 250hp.

Bad sender the way to check is unplug brown / white wire coming from sender and ground engine side wire and if it the gauge goes up then it is the sender if not either gauge or a broken wire but from what you are desribing it is a bad sender....OPTI
