So there I was last weekend at Amistad...rippin' it up at 40mph(hey...that's all my 90hp motor's got) and I look down and my kill switch is dangling off of my jacket. We're heading back to weigh anyways but I'm slightly freaked that the motor's gonna quit on me. I make it back to the dock and...instinctively kill it after I've tied up. I immediately try to restart and it cranked right back up. This is not good...but I have no idea as to where to start to fix this. ...now what?

Looks like someone has bypassed the kill switch on back of control box!

Mine did the samething, took it to the dealer and had a new one put in(not smart enough to do it myself) about $50.00 works great now< also you can push it in and mess with it maybe there is dirt in it and it is stuck give that a try.

Check the wires on the back of the switch itself. They are designed to "Kill" the motor, which doesnt require it to be a constant connection.

One of my wires came off once and my boat still operated fine.

Agreed, this can't be a very big deal to fix. If your key kills the boat but your kill switch doesn't it should be something either with the switch itself, or a lose connection.

I had this happen the first time I took my boat out. I have an older boat with the much maligned Force motor. My brother had just replaced the block and rebuilt the top end. Boat ran great. So great, that I couldn't turn it off. Had to pinch off the fuel line.

It turned out to be the wire that shorts out to the block. The little spade connector had broken. The kill switch and the key both used the same wire so neither of them worked. Thats what maked me think that it is something behind the console (bad switch, or lose connection.)
