I went a week ago. Couldn't get the trout to bite, but we did pick up 4 keeper reds and lost a huge striper. I think the freshwater flow moved the trout out. Couldn't find any up north Saturday (3-28), but did catch lots of bait in the bayous. Sunday (3-29), we launched at Oak Island and fished all the way past Vingt et un Islands with out a bite. Hit the well heads out from Smith Point with Gulp and Rat-L-Traps before we got bit. Some fellas have reported catching trout near McCullum park on the west banks and along the shell reefs near Umbrella Point. I'm a rookie at bay fishing, 3 trips completed so I may not be working the right patterns.

I have been wondering that same thing and was going to post a topic on Trinity. I am moving to Beach City next month and the place I'll be staying is 75 yds from the bay with a boat ramp. I have never fished it but plan on doing so a lot in the very near future.
2 guys at work who live in Beach City have told me they've been doing pretty good wading at McCollugh Park (sp?) They have warned me to lock up the truck and do not leave anything in the truck that you would mind having stolen. I guess that means don't leave ANYTHING in the truck.
I hope some more folks can chime in and I look forward to reporting, (hopefully good reports) soon.

Yeah Mike. Apparently stripers have been populating the bay system and some rare catches have taken place. They are believed to have migrated in from the river.
Fishnrgv - Is that a public ramp in Beach city? We looked at Crawley's and it's destroyed. Couldn't find another along that side. We towed down there from the Woodlands and back around to Wallisville looking for a ramp.

Sasquatch,
No, it's not a public ramp. I'm living in my 5th wheel right now while working at Exxon-Baytown. The place is Beach City RV Resort. They have a website and is easy to see via Google Earth. The ramp is still entact and doing just fine as I looked at it this past Saturday. According to the owner there was a lite pier before the storm(i saw pilings). He claims he is going to rebuild it once these cold fronts are done but who knows. Right now we are working Mon-Thurs, 40 hrs. Once I move in you are more than welcome to use to the ramp, I just need a back seat and I'd be more than willing to split the cost 50/50 or more if you need a partner or ever have an open back seat. I have a bass boat but the trailer isn't galvanized/aluminum. I've put it in Sabine Lake a couple times but I think that's gonna stop real soon as I'm scared of what can happen. I spent most of my life in Seabrook and we all had jet skis in high school. Had a buddy with a jet ski and painted trailer who washed that trailer religious every time we put them in Clear Lake(salt water) and I saw that trailer fall apart while following him one day to the lake. Makes me quite apprehensive.

That's great. Thanks for the invite. Living here in the metromess, I won't get to venture there but a few times per year. A west bank ramp helps open the bay up. You should be able to launch at Trinity Island in Wallisville (less than 10 miles) without worries. The river should be all freshwater. Motor down past Anahuac and fish the bay in that area. Motoring back to the ramp will flush your motor. We caught trout and reds there in December. Summer is supposed to get good there.

Hey Ryan, where is the refuge? I don't yet have a map of Trinity Bay. I am looking at it from Google Earth.

What about getting to the bay from the Wallisville ramp? I was told you will get lost if you dont know where your going, then someone else said just follow the black markers. All I know is take a cut to the right. Anyone else have any advice for getting out? I am going to ride around when I get back home, currently working in Congo west Africa.

Wish I could help Amazon.
I am going to do a little wading in the morning. Of course since today is my last day of the work week, the wind picks up to 93 mph. It only makes perfect sense but to hell with it, I'm going. Hope to give some good news.

As figured, the water was like chocolate milk and rough. The water had a very low salinity level after all the rain we got this past Friday and Saturday. Maybe I'll try it again Sunday if the wind ever dies down.

I know what you mean about the wind, I work over seas and it seems like everytime I come home its either wind or rain.
