Hey guys. Finally got a day off tomorrow and was wondering if someone might be able to point me in the right direction to catch a mess of crappie. I'm pretty new to crappie fishing and would just like to know what lakes are producing. I'm in the Carrollton area so lakes nearby would be a plus, but I dont mind driving. Unfortunately, I don't have a boat so I am bank-bound. Not asking for secret honey holes, just a little general information. Thanks for the help guys.

I have the same problem. I think I'll fish a section of the trinity with the fly rod.

Maybe you might want to try the joe pool barge or even lake lewisville fishing barge.

A good place to try is the FM720 bridge at Lake Lewsiville. There is a park just to the north east on FM720 and you can park and walk right up under the bridge. Crappie and bass can be had down in that area.
LFT Magic Shad has been good to me there. Don't bother with a jig under there unless you are looking to donate your jigs to the fishing gods. Lot's of rocks to get caught up on.

IF you really want to catch you mess load of crappies. Get yourself a one man pontoon boat like T-FLY and kick around under a bridge at Cedar Creek or Lake Fork. Mess load of crappies there. Best time right now to hit crappies under a bridge ... You might not hit your limit for the first time, or second, or third time, but you will have a whole lot of fun. Hope this help you,

Hey Krazyfish, where did the big striped fish come from in your post, P.K.?
