Fished fork today, and it fished like the good ole days, before it was dead and washed up! Started at 7:15 am after a good breakfast at Mosers. Hit Birch up in do nothing bay at 7:18 was pitching white zigzags in 3-5ft slow. At 7:22 caught 3 lber plus change off grass/hardwood combo, felt the fish should have been bigger so respooled with 12lb lft fluro and things got interesting. At 7:45 caught a 4lb 1oz tight on a bed but quickly released her since I am a firm believer in C&R. I didn't take a picture because I hate dropping them on the carpet and messing up their slime coating. Although not a biologist, I would think it is similar to getting a 3rd degree burn on our skin. Anyway at 7:48 I stuck what I thought was a good 6 lb 12oz Florida strain large mouth bass, but I got over excited and ran the line into the running trolling motor. The line didn't break, but she thew the zigzag back at me like I was some kind of banjo minnow fisherman! Well needless to say, that got me really focused. so I respooled with 10 lb mean green, and put on a fresh helgremite and proceded to focus on 1.5-2.75 ft of water. Needless to say, this was the key to turning my day around. at 7:55 I noticd the grennal were cruising and some looked to be on beds so I proceded to respool with 65# power pro red with a 13" steel leader with a clear and red bead attached just above the surgeons loop. my confidence soared and i changed to a lily white AC plug on a reaction innovation shakey screwed up weedless jig head. I guess the line was to big because I didn't get a hit in the next 5 minutes, so I dropped my 50mg and Carrot stix, and picked up my new finessed rigged ugly stick with my team diawa fuego spinning reel spooled with seaguar invizx flro. Needless to say I thought this was the key to turning my day around. On my second cast with this rig i caught a 2 lb male with a bloody tail. this fish was beautiful, and I thanked the Bass Gods for such a beautiful and tasty creature. I fish for the challenge of the hunt, so I made a quick run to Coffee Creek and decided to drop shot a 12" Culprit black shad in 32 ft of water. Things didn't go as planned, so I decided to respool with 8lb big game and fish a bruised banana floating tube in 16ft of water. this was pretty productive and I managed to boat 16 fish 1-7 lbs in the next 37 minutes.

At lunch we went back to Mosers and started things off with half of a Banana cream pie and a milk shake. Then had the lunch special, Chicken Fried steak, Green beans, Mashed potatoes and a hot roll. For dessert a piece of spice cake and hot chocolate.

Went back out to the boat and respooled with LFT Florhybrid 26# test and rigged up a Whadat in DoDo brown flake weightless. Ran across the lake to Luther's cove, Put the trolling motor on high and started cruising the shallows looking for the elusive green back locked on in the mating ritual. It didnt take long to find what had to be the biggest fish I think I have ever seen. She had to be between 10 and 18 pounds. While she was not actually on the bed, she was staying in close proximity and not at all spooky. I instantly respooled with 32# LFT Power silk. I flipped the weightless Whadat silently in front of her massive mouth, she popped her jaw and sucked in the DoDo brown flake bait and the fight was on!!! Got her up next to the boat and you guessed it, Time for a snack. Four Twinkies, Three Ding Dongs and 7 Little Debbies and it was time to resume the battle. Well I guess my Wiley X Stryker medium to large fit polarized glasses I received for 7.00 shipping only with the purchase of my Revo Skeet Reese series weren't up to snuff. When I landed that girl she weighed only 4 lb 3/4 oz on my original boga grip scale. This ticked me off to no end, so I ran back to Lake Fork Marina, and bought a pack of Zebra Cs in the Morning Wood color because I was really looking for big fish. Since I was looking for big fish, I needed to run up to Glade, and did. I was so excited and it seemed to take an eternity or at least 10 minutes to get there, but when I dropped the Motor Guide Freshwater Tour Series Digital Bow Mount Foot Control 36 volt 105# thrust, I didn't like the water color so I made the quick run to the back of Birch and thank goodness I did. Nothing says big fish like slow rolling a 12" Zebra C in Morning Wood for those procreating sows! Between 1:15 and 1:19 I proceeded to boat a 4lb 2oz whale, lost a 9lb 15 oz monster half way to the boat, and 2 good size bar fish. All fish released but the good bar fish was 11 long with a 9" girth. And the guys at Lake Fork Taxidermy, are making me something special to hang in the camper of my pick-up. I had really been grinding, and needed some moon pies and a jolt cola to get me back on track, and it did. I ran to Chaney Point and decided to VanDam it by waking a 12" Boston Pancake with a flutter spoon tied inline with a 27" leader. That didn't work and it was 1:45 and getting late, so I went with what any good large mouth bass fisherman would do and ran to Lake Fork Creek to pitch 2" sweet beavers in the new mother's milk pattern on my 7'6" heavy/fast tip berkley glowstick. By 2:15 the pattern proved less than desirable, I was crashing from the moon pie/jolt cola snack so I ran back to the trailer up in Williams to take a quick nap.

Woke up from my nap at 2:32 and was starving. Made some Lobster Nachos and watched a tevoed version of The Worlds Greatest Fishing Show. It was the one with Jeff Kreit at Choke Canyon....Peekabooo!!

Now I was Really fired up to catch ole Thunder Lips. Made a quick run up to Garrett Creek to fish some creekbends. Broke out the G Loomis GLX
MBR 744 and spooled up my Shimano mg50 with some Sunline Floro Extreem in 16# test and rigged up a 7 inch Ribbed Wiggler in Bubble Gum chartuese
swirl. Tried fishing a split shot rig with a 1/16 oz Water Gremlin weight and fished SLLLOOOWWW until 2:39, Nada. Decided to go back to the shallows and broke out the Dobyns 7'3" heavy action rod paired with my trusty ole Curado 200 spooled with XPS 17 # floro. dressed with KVD line conditioner for Xtra long casts to what seemed to be very spooky group of cruisers. On the business end I rigged a hybrid verson of a Zoom Horny Toad and a Reaction Innovation Vixen thus a Horny Vixen.
Seemed to make sense during the spawning ritual. On my first cast, as the bait settled silently into the water, I witnessed something I have never seen on any body of water......... A platypus mounting a duck from behind. I thought that was weird, but time was burning so I finished my cast, respooled with 4# P-line fluroclear and ran to Searcy to try a a new prototype bait called the tricky dicky. this bait is awesome in the water, and looks half rattlesnake, half brushog, 25% senko, adn half castaic trout

As soon as I got to searcy I popped a RC cola and a handful of gummie bears, and put the trolling motor on high. My game plan was to hit every piece of huisache but apparently there isn't any in fork, so I went to Penson for a little topwater action. I caught 3 5lbers on 4 cast and but didn't like the quality of fish and went back to Searcy. I went all the way to the back of the creek only to find that I had discovered the largest bed of bass I have ever seen. There must have been over twenty bass on this bed. All of them appeared to between 11 and 19 pounds, the trick now was to figure out how and what bait to get in front of the 19 pounder. Being the experienced bed fisherman I respooled with 80 pound Howie's floromonobraid. This line has the 0 vizability of florocarbon, the forgiveness of mono and the hooksetting power of braid, on the kick arse end I rigged the unbeatable strike prevocking old school Herbs Dilly. Not many of you would think of using this in a bed fishing situation, but dont knock it until you try it. The blade of the "Dilly" provide tantalizing wiggle along with flash that drew the most vicious strike from ole 19+ pound thunder lips. Thank goodness I had my onboard BBQ pit fired up with 4 racks of Spare ribs cuz the gummie bears had worn off and it was time for my predinner snack. At this moment I just about died! I wanted the tator tots I had packed, and couldn't find them in the zipper pocket of my Outcast Fish Cat 4 Deluxe LCS Float Tube and couldn't find them. I really wanted some so I paddled to Rainswood to get some. The trip was worth it and I could hardly wait to get back into searcy so i could eat some with those ribs. After the snack I looked up and this sob in a pontoon boat was sitting right on top of that bed with the 22lber, so I respooled my Penn gt lever reel, and headed to the dam for fish I had marked on my graph back in 2001, it was almost 3:30 so I had to paddle in high gear if i wanted any chance of finishing the day out in Boardtree. After tirelessly fishing Big Joes spoon for over 5 minutes I cranked up the big motor and ran to Boardtree. Ran in there to just past the pipeline, shut down and settled right on top of a stump. I thought that I was high centered so I put the motor in reverse.
Couldnt get the boat off with the big motor so I decided to lower the Motorguide Digital Tour Model 109#s 36 volts of love and put her in High bypass. When I did it pulled out all of the Gromets on my Gator Mount and the whole thing Motor mount and all took off toward Axton,s. Now I'm without trolling motor and I cant get it off the stump with the big motor. If you come in Boardtree look just past the pipeline on the left treeline and you will see me sittin there more than likely eatin a snack.

I'm just amazed that you could know the exact weight of the "monster" (9lb 15oz) you lost half way to the boat! Must of been too many Moon Pies!

Mike, I suffer from hyper thyroid so I really do eat alot. You would be suprised how much line you can store when you take out all those life jackets, and throw cushions, plus only a couple of spools are large test. Gas used to be a problem, but I now tow a Mako 22ft inshore boat loaded with 40-50 5 gallon gas cans.
