Get a bill of sale with the description of the motor, the serial number, model number, sellers name address and ph. #, etc., etc., and take it to TPWD. They will give you a title.

Wish it was that easy!

"give you a title"
Hahahahahaha......now that's funny...

Call parks and wildlife and ask first, they'll want a lot more than that before they'll title that motor. You'll need some documents signed with a notary.

Has anyone EVER been asked for a title to a motor by a warden.

You have to find the last registered owner, and have them sign the lost title form. You will then have to file for a lost title. TWPS will send it to the LAST known registered person. Once the last registered owner gets the title, they need sign it and forward it to you.

If you don't know who the last registered owner is, or they are dead, good luck. I wouldn't buy it other than to have a parts motor, and that isn't worth much.

I have never been asked for the engine title, just the boat registration.

Been stopped many times and never ever asked for the title to the motor. That said, If you wish to make any headway at all with this type of thing, do not go to the local office. You must call Austin and ask for a warden. I had the MSO for both my boat and my trailer, both the Dallas and the Fort Worth office gave me the run around about getting the title for a NEW boat with the MSO in hand!!!! It fook a while, but I got the head man in Austin to call Garland and set them strait. The real pisser of it is the guys in line ahead of me the first time I went to the Fort Worth office Spoke very broken english and did not have any form of ID on them and were able to transfer a title with no problem. She even filled out all the paperwork for them!!!! I get up there with all my paper work filled out and in order and she just gives me the run around.. If you get the wrong person behind the counter you might as well bang your head against the wall for all the good it will do ya.
