Hey guys. I just purchased a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 that did not come with the 7 pin plug. I bought the 7 pin adapter from Chrysler and hooked everything up per the instructions. Now, I only have left turn signal, brake and running lights on the trailer as well as no brake. Any ideas on where I went wrong? The only part I did half [censored] was the ground wire installation. I just drilled a hole in the frame and screwed in the wire but I didn't grind or sand the metal to make sure I had a clean connection. However, I am getting left side lights so I don't think the ground is the problem. Help!

Did you check all of your fuses in the PDC (power distubution center) under the hood?

recheck your wiring. see if it the same from your instructions to the front side of your lid on the 7 way connector diagram. and check your fuses.

is this what you are getting at the plug, or the actual trailer lights?

This is what I am getting on the trailer lights. I hooked the trailer up to my other truck and everything works perfectly so the problem is with the truck. The adapter that I bought had the 7 pin plug and then a foot or so down there was a connector where you would plug in to the existing 4 pin outlet. Then there is a groud wire that pigtailed off and another wire that pigtailed and the instructions said to tie that in to the left tail light so I did so per the instructions. The wiring harness then goes down the length of the truck and splits again. There is a pigtail that goes to where the brake controller is under the dash and the remainer of the harness runs to the battery where you connect the positive lead.

I have a 07 1500 and there was dirt in my 4 pin that when connected to the 7 pin caused the same problem. I would check that and re-do the ground. I am sure that is your problem. Make sure that you have a strong air compressor. It took a couple of times for it to work right.
