All I can say is WOA... what a bite after the rain let down...

About 2.5 hours on the water and we boated about 200 lbs of fish! We threw all but 4 back.

~15 10#ers

3 18-20#ers

A few sub 10# fish as well.

Lost a nice 30+ pounder when we couldn't get him in the net and I tried to haul him in by the line and broke it mad

Bite was fast and furious, best fishing trip I have ever had... I couldn't even keep 3 poles in the water they were hitting so fast!

At one point I had 2 on the lines at once.. pulled them in one after another.

How do you post pics?

Grapevine is an awesome lake! Very nice job! Michaeldc, just to let you know their are some boathouses on the south end of the lake great for Crappie, Catfish, and bass. You can also bank fish there too. Also there's a good area called twin cove with lot's of standing timeber. It's on the north end of the lake and it's great for bass. Water is pretty shallow there at the current moment though. Also i've had good luck catching largemouths on nightcrawlers bank fishing in the twin cove area. Sometimes the area around Scott's Landing is good too. I've caught some smallmouths there before.

Go fish!

Since Grapevine generally runs east and west, "up north" covers about 7-8 miles. Could you be a little more specific?
Also what bait were you using and how deep were the fish? We have been catching them very shallow on shad on the west end.
Thanks.

Well, I learn something nearly every day. Grapevine Lake actually runs NW-SE. So maybe "up north" means the shallow end?

Actually the shallow end is where Denton Creek feeds the lake which is on the west end of the lake.

Hope this helps

OK ok, yes the lake runs from NW to SE... I was up in the NW shallows using fresh cut shad.

We fished the inflow at Denton Creek awhile back after some good rains and ended up cutting back from 10 rods to 4 because we couldn't stay up with 10 rods. The bite was fast and furious.
