I haven't tried Murrell from the bank lately...have done very well there in the past but mostly when the lake is closer to pool level. In fact Rudy and I did great a couple years ago when the lake was flooded.
Last year did very well early then when the lake started dropping it seemed like the bite went away.
I will be very happy when we get some real rain to get GV filled back up...

Tried Murell today, no luck. Caught a few smaller ones at twin coves before had to be home. Wind really made it challenging.

Went out Saturday morning to the Vine and had a crazy start to the day. First of all I have not seen a post in here so I will let you know they starting charging to get into Rockledge Park and not opening the gate until 8 a.m. on Friday and Sat and 9 a.m. on Sundays...of course I got there at 7 and found all this out..could not wait and decided to head back over the lake and hit the cove by the marina and fish until the gate opened. Big mistake on my part due to the rain and not having 4 wheel drive...I made it out but my truck was a mess. Finally made it into the park and starting fishing by 8:15...caught large mouth bass to start off the day and then the sandies started schooling right in front of me...Had 2 poles would catch one real it in and throw out the other and catch another one...then I had two fish to get off and then back again. I had a great 3 hrs of fishing and then headed back to the house. All fish were caught and released and the bait of choice was the ole rooster tail.

I went and read those post's and you know I did not see but one other vehicle in the park when I left at 11:00 a.m. so maybe the charge will keep the amount of traffic down. I never really fish that side but decided to try and it paid off.

The marina I tried to go fish at was the one when you turn to go over the dam...Silver something??? But I go down the dirt road right when you turn on your left....let it dry out.

caught 8 in an hour at a point in Murrell, all LMB, largest was 3lb 8oz. No clouds, no wind, no waves. I thought there would be no fish, but there were lots of bass around. Was on a roll until some guy decides to troll 25 yards off the bank in front of me using his big motor not his trolling motor. <Rant begins here> I give him an incredulous stare with my hands on my hips, and I can see his wife is uncomfortable looking back and forth between me and him. He passes by without ever looking at me, causing me to have to burn my lure in so he doesn't go over my line. He gets snagged, idles back and stops right in front of me, pulls his lure loose, then sits there idling for about 90 seconds pulling weeds and fishing line off his lure with pliers.
I'm so fed up I ask him "Do you have to sit there idling in the spot I'm trying to fish?"
He replies "My lure got snagged!"
I respond "It wouldn't have if you didn't troll right in front of me where I'm fishing in the first place."
He yells "You don't own the lake!"
I say "Neither do you, but you're so close I can cast 20 yards over your head!" (I'm throwing a 1/4oz rattletrap, and it only goes ~40 yards, but he's half that distance away).
He shouts back "Go ahead and try and you'll loose your lure." (I didn't mean it as a threat, just to let him know he should be at least 50-60 yards away from me, but I guess he took it as a threat)
So I respond "You're lucky that I'm actually considerate of other people. Have a nice day!"
After he idles away, he gets around the corner of the cove, out of sight, turns around, and then blasts the boat on full plane (which was about 300-400 yards inside the "no wake" bouys which I'm sure he saw cause he was trolling around the bouys when I first got there and his wife caught a carp on crankbait). Then blasts around the corner where I'm standing (at least he's about 100 yards away this time), but he causes massive wakes to crash where I'm fishing (I'm standing about 50 yards past the bouys). I dont' know if he did that to piss me off or maybe his wife gave him an earful for being a jerk and he got pissed off and was heading home.
So, after an hour of consistent action and fish busting the surface, that guy interrupts it and that spot shuts down. I fish it for about 30-40 minutes with nothing before I trek off with a big frown. I'm sure he had seen me catch all those fish and decided he wanted a run at that spot. It's only 5-6 feet deep where I'm casting to so having a big motor sitting there definitely spooked any fish in that area.
All it takes is one inconsiderate jerk to ruin a good day at the lake.

I've had a few run ins with those types. I keep casting an when I can I hit their boat with my lure, a 1 1/2 oz slap will get their attention. When they complain I just tell them that's where I was catching fish. They usually curse me and leave. I usually wave goodbye with a single finger salute.

that sucks, I would have casted over to his boat and maybe try and hit him and say "oh im sorry I didnt see you b.c i was catching so many fish" I hate when people try and take your spot when you are having a good time just pulling them in.
