I'm assuming this is a green sunfish. Am I correct? These same fish ( I'm also assuming ) turn to an orange belly and black fins, and a darker top half of the body during the winter months. Please advise.

Thanks for the confirmation. This one just happens to be midsize compared to what I have caught. A 10 incher has been the biggest I've caught out of my tank. I assume they are worth eating?

I caught this one on a 1/16 oz. jig with a blk/chart skirt. This tank was originally a catfish tank which was fed everyday. Cats are gone and now its full of bass, crappie and these green things. Biggest bass was 4 lbs. Biggest crappie was 4 lb 4 oz. biggest perch was 10 1/2". Either small crankbait or jigs of any color catch all species. There fun to catch on a 12ft jigging pole and 4 lb test.

4lb 4oz Crappie? I remain skeptical.

In a tank, 4 lb crappie VERY possible. sounds like a well managed tank, so not out of the question. Man that is a NICE Geenie! 8.5 inches, dandy in anybody's book!
