I have the larger model. It works fine on a 2 man boat. You can run it for a full day on the batteries. I've never really tested the batteries and change them out after about 3 half day trips. I broke the plastic C clamp on a cold day in January so my fishin buddy is out of service. That is my only complaint. They are great on small waters.

If you're talking about the one with the stick I didn't like it. The stick wobbled and got lose even if I paddled a short distance. Then I got frustrated removing it and putting it back in every time I changed locations. That's why I moved to a mount FF with a colored display. You can see it much easier.

I have the older Bottom-Line Fishin' Buddy II and it's going into a garage sale as soon as I get a Cuda. The c-clamp never fit my Poke Boat and the "stick" was too flimsy for my 15' Crestliner. I invested in an aluminum clamp from a rod-holder outfit, designed for the FB II, but it too would not fit the yak.
If anybody is interested in either, give me a shout....
