I know yall are gonna doubt me but around here, a couple of sliced onions are THE BAIT for bream traps. Just cut a couple of white or yellow onions in half and put em in the trap. It works better than styrofoam in my experience.

Actually, I'm sure you guys are talking about "minnow traps" because it's illegal to trap perch.

it is not illegal to trap a non game fish. "perch traps" are illegal, but a BIG MINNOW TRAP is not.

yeah a minnow trap that has the opening within the required dimesions is legal. You catch about the perfect size perch in them.

I use just bread. But in my pond i dont use anything. They just swim right in.

i thaught we were talking "perch traps" which are legal in private owned tanks. but if we're talkn minno traps then i use bread or dry cat/dogfood. crackers work too.

24" or less on the longest side and an openning 1"x3" or smaller is OK.
