What a morning that was.

I don’t think I’ve caught so many over 2 pounds plus Crappie (probably have but I just can’t remember).

I know it was tough yesterday (4/14/09) on Navarro Mills (from the reports I had read on TFF) and that was everywhere with the Blue Bird Day. But what difference a day can make.

Caught bunches and bunches of 2 pound plus Crappie (BIG Ol Girls) all catch and release (it was just unreal).

These girls were in the 10 to 15 feet range on brush piles/cover.

It really was incredible: (Just kiss them good bye, thanks for the fight and finish out having your babies) banana.

Up to 2 pounds and 10oz – 16 plus inches.

It was neat - really unbelievable (it would have been easy limits today for the customers but oh well, all those girls are back in the lake for now - for an another day). You can see all the current photos on www.texasguidefishing.com (see the photos page and just keep hitting MORE PHOTOS to go back in time).

Thanks for the great report. I'm sure glad to hear it. That lake has been off for a little while now. Sounds like its back.

I think the fish enjoy it the best (although I do very much enjoy getting to make their acquaintance - thank you Crappie so much), but they (the Crappie) know they are fixing to get released (that has got to make that kiss even better).

Very nice Mark! Now if I could only figure out how to leave those catfish alone for a day or two.

Brian,

No shad today (actually only few dozen minnows, ran out then had to go to the jig) – I forgot to take the (Small – fine mesh) shad casting net, I was out really not to catch fish today at all - I just kind of got hung up on doing that.

That was not my plan at all. It was just to go out and find new spots. Darn gall fish just kept getting in the way. It was a great day to catch them, but very hard to pull off of them to find new spots.

For me it was really a wasted day – but what fun (I did not achieve my objective – but what fun it was), I covered so very, very little of the lake today – I just succumbed to the fish – that was my bad.

I’ll have more discipline next time (at least I hope so) - now I have a fishy mouth (spit phew - no, really that's good too)

If I was good as you in the prime time spring to catch those blues - just go with that, that is what your customers want.

GO Bobby - GO!
