I'm going to Dunlap in the morning. Hoping to find a few before the wakeboard show up and ruin a perfectly good day.

Dan...just got off the phone with a friend that lives on Dunlap. I also live on the lake. He said they just let out water. 3 feet lower. Can't use Shuman beach launch and the I35 is horrible. Let us know.

It is low!!! I drove by the ramp under I35 and it's lower than it was last week. Last week Thursday I backed one trailer tire off that ramp. Luckly a few guys were there and they waded out and lifted the trailer up and i pulled forward. Has anybody been to Placid? Just curious about the water level there.

I did make it out there today and man is it low. It's the lowest I've seen it. The ramp under I35 was fine. I do not have 4wd and was able to launch and recover with no problems. Fishing was real slow. With all that water being gone I think it's got them pretty screwed up. I did manage a few though. One came off a bed in a shallow spot in the middle that is marked by a white buoy. The lily pad area is almost wiped out. It's crazy. Need to be careful because of stumps. Areas that were fine before may not be safe now. The fish I did catch came on a whacky rigged senko in wtn/red. The one on the bed finally hit a super finesse worm in the same color.

I was only out there for a little over an hour that evening. I did catch one about 4-4 1/2 pounds out of what was left of some lily pads in one of the oxbows. She was in less than a foot of water and was stuffed full of eggs. Has anybody been to Placid? I'm thinking about going one evening this week possibly. I'll put in under I-10.

I was on Placid last Thursday.

Had a Guadalupe county sheriff tell me I couldn't launch my boat under i-10. So I had to trailer around to Zipps.... PITA...

Fishing was slow....

hit dunlop for a few hours yest even. caught about 10, all dinks but beautiful evening. white spinner and baby brushogs worked for us. we launched at schumman's beach and had no problems, but i have a smaller boat (16 ft). water is getting low and nasty. lots of that boiled spinach looking stuff.

Zipps RV park is across the lake from the I-10 ramp and about 1/2 mile north. They charge $5 to use their ramp.

On a side note, I stopped by the ramp at dunlap on the way home today and the water level seemed about a foot low.

Thanks,

I'll have to try Zipps. I have not been on Placid yet.

I haven't been on Lake Dunlap for a few months but pass by all the time. Water is down about 24"......getting pretty nasty where the water is stagnant but overall it's not bad. The wake boarders are out on the weekends.
