Have any of you people used the composite crank bait rods that falcon has. I am using mostly falcon cara rods and need a good medium to deep crank bait rod.

The CLC 4-17 is awesome for just about all cranks. If you want a good Deep Running crankbait action try the CLC 5-176. It is awesome for deep cranking and even though they are composite, they are very light.

If you were going to have just 1 of these rods you just posted in your rod box which one would you choose for all around medium to deep cranking.

The CLC 4-17 is a great crankbait rod. My opinion is it's more for small to medium cranks. The great thing about a composite is that the slow action keeps fish that aren't hooked that great from pulling off. I am also going to get a couple of the CLC 5-176 for deep cranks.

I just put the cash out for a clc 5-176 and a cara amastad for c rig, frog rod. Will let you know how it works. I am excited and mad at my self for not waiting for the rod riot at acadamy.

Most of the Caras don't qualify for the rod riot prices anyway.

I am really going to like this clc 5-176 cranker. It is really light and has a strong backbone, very sensitive. Can't get over how light it is lighter than by amastad rod.

Going through these posts and wanted to add to this one. The CLC5-176 is the best cranking rod I've used yet in the Falcon line. I've always been a huge fan of the CLC-4-17 and it still is my favorite, but for the big lipped baits, you can't beat this 7'6" rod. I can burn a DD22 all day and not wear out like I was with the 7' model. I don't even like throwing the big baits on the 7' now. The other thing about it and it's the main reason I'm such a fan of composite rods is, I just don't loose fish. The first thing almost all of my cranking fish will do is jump. This rod just has so much forgiveness build in that it doesn't tear hooks out. I just can't speak highly enough about it. Pair with a Revo Winch and 12 pound Seagar Invizx and you have a cranking machine.

Brant King I could not have said it better myself. I throw cranks 70 to 80 % of the time and throw dds and manns go to 20 to 15 footers. I can throw all day and like you said there is so much forgiveness built in to the rod it is an amazing rod.

Brant thanks for the info. I've been looking for a new rod to throw the big divers. Been using a 7' Cara and Winch. Going to look for a 7'6".
