Are the Core reels the same as a chronarch just with a MG frame?

It's built on the same form factor, yes. There are a few little differences, but they're very similiar. That's why there won't be a new MG50, it's now the Core.

I hope you are right about this one coming to the US at around $250. The core and JDM version are about the same price. I think Shimano made a mistake not having a reel priced like the 50 or Revo Premier.

I disagree..I think the Chronarch D is a better reel than the Core. I've owned both and the new Chronarch is much smoother on the retrieve than the Core..
