The batteries are charging fine, but it seems, especially in cold weather, that when the prop is in the water the prop will barely spin....even on high. This goes on for 10-45 seconds and then it like a switch is flipped and it runs fine. You can let off the button and wait 5 seconds and the whole scenario plays over again. It seems as though the warmer the weather and the more times it is used in a tournament day the better off it is...by say 12-1pm the problem has pretty much alleviated itself and you have full power as soon as you hit the button. I know it is still doing this because in my garage I can hold on to the prop and hit the button and actually keep it from spinning w/o much effort. Sorry for the rambling message..just trying to be descriptive enough!! Thanks

The weather should have nothing to do with this issue. Have you checked to see if that there is no line or anything wrapped around the prop (i.e. loosen nut and remove prop to verify all is clear)? Also if the nut on the prop is on super tight it will not turn very fast at all. One last thing is you could put the trolling motor on high bypass and take individual readings on your battery to verify both batteries are good.

prop is clear and have tested both batteries. It almost acts as if it is cold blooded.

yes...it runs fine with no issues after a little time passes. bizarre. Sometimes I can have the knob at about 50% power and while keeping my foot on the switch roll the knob to high power and it kicks on just fine then. I know I sound ignorant, but this situation is pretty hard to explain with a keyboard.

What kind of circuit breaker do you have? Is it the type that resets itself after a time? If so, maybe you need a higher amp breaker? Did you check all your connections and plug/receptacle for oxidation? Is your cable shorting anywhere? could it be the instant on switch barely making contact?
Just some wild guesses!

I'm guessing you have a problem with the "dial" switch..does it do the slow thing if you start out on 100%..

yes it does do the slow thing if starting out out 100%...don't think it is a connection prob....I have the push type breaker and they are both fine.

My MG is doing the same thing. It's a 12v 46# model.
Tested the battery and it's fine. Even with the prop off, it does the same thing. The shaft will slowly turn for a while and then it'll take off. Leave it be and try it again in 5 minutes and it's doing it again. I've thought about taking it apart but I wouldn't know what to do once I got in there.....LOL.
Mine is 7 years old. I've decided it's time for a new one, so I'm going to bite the bullet.
