Why drive all the way to Palestine when there one hour closer?
My buddy and I tore them up yesterday at Richland Chambers, this was my fastest limit in about three years. I sure hope the weather change does'nt move them this weekend, going to go back and lower the lake level a little. Wondering why there's no more post coming from RC they should be hitting all over this big lake, I know its rough but there are plenty of protected areas. This was the best bite I have had on this Lake since shortly after its opening.

Good report BB thumb
That lake has big crappie when you can get em, and apparently this is a good spawning year.

yep, its no suprise, patience pays off after a while if you dont give up first. Did you go try that spot I told you about? I know Royce/Adam were on some crappie on RC. Adam has been chasing them I hear. He is probably keeping quite so people dont crowd his spots. Thats what I typically do, but I had to brag a little yesterday. lol

I went out this morning but the fish had moved from there shallow spots after this front. We caught a bunch of dinks with about a dozen good fish. They should be back in gear by this afternoon hopefully. I am leaving the dock in an hour.
Great job Bobby B! Keep lowering that lake!

I cant really tell you how the spring spawn bite is going on RC, Navarro Mills, Aquilla, Waco or Whitney, cause I just kind of learned through the years the spring spawn bite for Crappie is feast or phantom.

For me its just too inconsistent (as a guide), I want and need to be able to catch fish everyday. I always say you have 10 good days out of 45 during the spring spawn for Crappie; I cannot go with those odds as a guide.

As just an independent sports fisherman for Crappie it is the best time of the year its just fishing and fun to try and catch fish - good days and bad. But as a guide its too hit and miss.

I dont really even consider the spring spawn Crappie fishing anymore.

This year (for the spring spawn Crappie - It should be GREAT) its much like 2006 a drought spring, water staying pretty level (work around the fronts) - work your target spots and you have got em.

Its about this time of year (Mid April) and they start moving back out a little to their cover spots that is when I start working on them too.

The folks Ive talked to on RC that do fish for the Spring Crappie Spawn have had a very, very good Spring (much like 2006) - It's much, much better than 2007 & 2008.
