what are u fishing for???

-bass????

I have caught decent bass out of both lakes, as of late though i havent. The carp and gar have invaded the reeds. I would start fishing the deeper structure, under water bridges, drops, and humps.

I went out to calaveras on tues but fought the wind and couldnt work the offshore stuff, so went into the reeds with a flipping stick and net bait paca craw green pumpkin red in color and caught one around 5 lbs.

Better off hittin placid or dunlap to catch bass if dont wanna make the trip to choke.

the lake is gonna be packed on sat due to all the campers for easter weekend.

Ask any one at the boat ramp where th "wall" is. Once you get there please IDLE your boat and Drop an anchor over the other side. Use bumper bouys or your boat will get beat up. Use a cast net to catch live shad. There are a lot of shad right now. The three to five inch ones are best. you will catch a million 1 1/2 inchers but throw them back they will only get you small cats.

Fish live shad ten feet deep on a "lemon rig" or as deep as you can cast a cork. You will catch at least a few reds this way depending on the loud croud and boat traffic.

be carefull, there will be alot of drunk idiots boating this weekend. Alot of people on that lake cant drive a boat sober. Hopefully the sheriffs on jet skis will be there as they usually are on holiday weekends.

good luck, hopes this helps

Unfortunately, yes. I'd honestly find another area to go....anywhere but those two places.

Last year I was coming home on I37 around 9 P.M. from the deer lease where I had been hunting Turkeys, and when I got close to the Braunig Lake entrance I saw a string of cars all the way down to the overpass where the gas station is.

They were lined up and hardly moving trying to get into the park, and the park seemed to have every inch of available realestate with tents and campers, and lights all over the place.

That had to have been a circus, and I don't even want to think about how all those people went to the bathroom.

I had to go to Corpus this afternoon and come back to S.A. Drove past Braunig twice. Looked like a complete cluster. Tents on every square foot of grass, line of cars waiting to get into the park.

And yes, there will be trash everywhere on both lakes once everyone leaves on Sunday.
