I am starting a new thread to enhance the responses on this fuel pump.

Fuel pumps run from 50 dollars to 67 dollars at Oreilleys and Auto Zone.

The "Air" something brand runs 65 for just the pump or 233.00 for the whole assembly.

I know to get a filter for the fuel pump.

Question.......Should I go ahead and get the entire assembly for 233.00 dollars?

This last pump was Bosch brand and supposed to be great but lasted only 3 years.

Any suggestions on the best brand to buy would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Chuckwagon

do a online search on E-bay for a A/C delco fuel pump for your truck.

I highly recommend the Delco. If you can get an assembly that's better. That way everything is new & there is less of a chance of the sending unit failing in 2 weeks.

Is the wiring harness included in the assembly?

You should check and make sure that there is no residual debris in the tank. It seems that these pumps are really sensitive to and affected by any debris that they may pickup. I had one of these trucks and had a problem with the fuel pump a couple of times. Both times were after I had run the take really low on gas. I never let it get below a 1/4 tank after the last pump was replaced. The truck had 259,000 miles on it and the last pump was still working and had been in the tank for over 100,000 miles.

AC Delco is the only way to go.
I did the autozone thing to save money..........2 years later I had to replace it again.

Thanks, I think I will try to find an AC Delco The zone does not have it and neither does Oreillys. Will check around.

OK just an fyi.the new in tank fuel pumps use the fuel to stay cool,so in contrast to that idea,if you consistantly run your tank to empty before you fill up,then you effectively take the coolant away from the pump, and the pump vanes are made of plastic,so they tend to overheat and melt, thus causing the fuel pump to lock up and not run, most of these trucks when they quit you can hit the tank with a big hammer in the center just below the fuel pump and get them to start pumping again for a short period.this is why i have stated on here a few times now to not let them get below 1/4 tank.Think about it like this, most of our grandparents have never had to deal with a fuel pump issue due to the fact that most of them will not let there fuel tanks go below 1/4 tank in fact most of them start to panic when there fuel gets this low.

98 suburban. got it at Autozone. year old no problems yet.
their computer does list the wrong pump for a 98 k2500 3/4 ton 4x4.
the correct pump is the one listed for 2 wheel drive.

I love the smell of 2 stroke in the morning !!!
