Went out looking to hit the honey holes on Brazos River from I-20 bridge West of Weatherford to Tin Top Bridge near Granbury. Actually caught a few on white Road runners after getting sand blasted by the 50-60 mile an hour winds on Thursday. After recovering from hypothermia, pnuemonia, and severe sand abbrasions ( I would do this during deer hunting season also!!!), we kept going down river toward Tin Top Bridge. The river is low and there was a ton of shallow spots.

Kept hearing that the whites were stacked up in the Horseshoe Bend area near Granbury. On Sunday finally found a place near Horseshoe Bend and man were they on. Every cast was money cheers. Started with a chrome rattle trap and ended with white road runner jig. Was a great day and look forward to doing it again. bannana2

All the females were full of eggs and some of the males WERE HUGE!!! If you have a good flat bottom or yak, that is the place to be.

Yup!!! Thought I was crazy too, but like I said it was stacked with fish. Thing about it there were no other people on the stretch of river as far as I could see. One guy in a shallow runner drove past and asked if the whites were up and showed him my stringer. He was shocked!!! Go up river from Tin Top bridge crossing and when you start to hit the sand bars pretty regular find the deep holes. Deepest part may have been waist deep. You could walk across the river. The choke points in the river were on. Good luck!! cheers

Does Horseshoe Bend not usually produce whites like that?

I saw a tunnel hull john boat on the river a light tan in color.

It was a bay stile boat, I have run the brazos for year in my john boat

It is to shallow for a 16.5 foot with a 35 hp. You need an air boat

or a tunnel bay boat. The land around that area is all private.

You have to be in the land owner association to have access. realmad

It looks like there is a boat ramp at the bridge on New Tin Top road and the Brazos. Is that a public ramp?
