With the popularity of year round carp fishing why limit our tournament series to fall-spring . After talking with some other members the idea of a summer night series came up and I decided to run with it and came up with a schedule. Let me know what you guys think about the times and locations.

Lone Star Carp Brigade Summer Tournament Series 2009

May 9 - Lady Bird Lake(Town Lake) 7am-7pm
June 13 - Lake Palestine - night tournament 8pm to 8am
July 18 - White Rock Lake - night tournament 8pm to 8am
August 8 - Lake Grapevine - night tournament 8pm to 8am
September 5 - TBA

Entry fee per contestant will be $25. Big fish pots for Carp, Buffalo, and Mirror/Koi may be entered for $5 each at anglers discretion.

Total pay out will be at least 90 percent of take and is to be distributed as follows:

Total field less than 10 anglers:
1st place total weight 90%

Total field 10 19 anglers:
1st place total weight 60%
2nd place total weight 30%

Total field over 20 anglers:
1st place total weight 55%
2nd place total weight 25%
3rd place total weight 15%

Money held back from take to be placed in fund toward purchase of Tournament Trail Awards.

RULES: These Rules apply to all entrants of this tournament. Violation of any of these rules will warrant appropriate disciplinary action. Any protest must be received in writing within fifteen minutes of final weigh-in. Tournament Director's decisions will be final in all matters.

State, Federal, and Local Laws must be obeyed.

Courtesy, sportsmanship and conservation must be displayed at all times by contestants. Any fish poorly treated will NOT be recorded and can lead to disqualification.

Any fish safe bait allowed. Any baiting method is allowed including boats.

Only 3 rods/reels are allowed per person not including spod or marker rods without hooks. Only one single hook allowed per rod. No trebles!

Foul hooked fish will not count; Hook must be within one inch from the mouth area.

Fishing is allowed from drawn peg location only. Fishing is only allowed from the shore, no fishing from boats or docks.

At no time is anyone allowed to touch other participant's rod or line while a fish is in play including initial hook set. Anyone can aid in netting a fish or baiting.

Only Cyprinus Carpio will count toward total weight. Side pots for other species may be entered as anglers option.

The carp has to be weighed by a witness, and related information reported on the scorecard. Neighbor participant or stewards can act as witness.

Fish safe nets, landing mats/weigh sling and scale are required. If a participant does not own one, they can make arrangements with other participants to use theirs. Any arrangement must be made BEFORE start time.

Off limits period for the lake for fishing, scouting, locating any fish, including shoreline spotting will begin 24 hours before a tournament. No exceptions.

All fish must be caught in a legal and sporting manner during tournament hours from tournament waters. Any fish hooked before closing time must be landed within 15 minutes of tournament end time to be scored.

Upon entering this fishing tournament, contestants release Lone Star Carp officials and sponsors from liability of accidents, losses or injuries.

I must point out that the rules listed above are borrowed from the original 2006 LSCB tourney trial with only slight modifications. Thanks guys for the initial work on these.

I encourage everyone to plan to attend all the events you can. These little tourneys are great educational events and fun for beginners as well as seasoned carp anglers.

I will submit each of these to MLC requesting that they be sanctioned MLC events, counting for points providing we have at least 10 participants in each tourney.

I'm hoping to have some other Carping Plans with Billy, Alec, and Steven around that time and that would interfere with participating in May.

...Lucky for yous guys...

The others... I'll see what I can do...

Thanks for stepping up, Scott. Maybe you can throw Joe Pool in for the TBA...

I already have plans for May and August, but will try to be at the others. For Sept, how about something a bit more central? We Houston guys like to fish too!
Perhaps: Waco area, Lake Limestone, upper Lake Livingston? Fairfield or Richland Chambers might even work.

Has anyone been carpin any of these before?

Thanks!

i have carped in waco, livingston and fairfield.

I will do my best to make these, but looks like I may be out for the May one, due to some broken bones, and a torn tendon.

What happened mike?

Brian I would love to find a lake more central but one that can accomidate 15 anglers and where we catch plenty of fish is hard. The Palestine tourney is one not to miss, some great fish in that lake.

Not really sure exactly when/where I did this, but am limited to basically one hand for at least 6-8 weeks. I guess this will give the fish time to recover so they fight harder when I get back out to the bank smile

I hear you, Scott.
I'm hoping to get out more this year than I did last, and perhaps I can try some of those spots.
