Yes they are in plain clothes. Few years+ ago there was a female one in plain clothes. She was butch and would beat all of our a$$es. Anyway she sat up on top of the creek for a while, then came down and started picking them off. She called backup and they raked it in.

They are about the strongest branch of the law in the state. The best thing is buy a license, read the booklet they give you, follow the rules and we all can enjoy this sport for a long time.

newb,
You're very misdirected with your 'its a free country' statement. Just because we are a free people in a free country does not mean that our past-times are free of charge. On the contrary, this freedom comes with and necessitates a higher level of personal responsibility and vigilance. This includes paying for our priviledges and past-times.
The license fees pay for the development, protection, and maintenance of our fisheries.
It would be a good idea for you to educate yourself on what keeps this country free, what economic system we live under, and the value of responsibility.

Yes, I am. realmad
apparently in your young, over-opinionated, under-educated mind you seem to think
that being an American gives you the Right to do what you like, regardless of laws put forth to protect our fisheries for everyone.
You, as well as the other idiot & his "friend" that started this thread, need to realize that these perceived "rights" are actually PRIVILEDGES provided to you for being a Conscientious & RESPONSIBLE Citizen!
if you cant drop less than $20 for a liscense, then stay on your mommy & daddy's pond
until you can save up some cash and common sense! realmad

and that, my boy, is my opinion!

You won't get a ticket overpriced or not if you just buy your license. Simple. And no, you don't need a license to fish on private property like you asked about the pond. Yes, you need a license to fish for ANY fish in the State of Texas, matters not what species you are targeting, it's fishing period. Also, as others said, you can fish for free inside a State Park. Yes, it's a free country, that does not mean everything is free of charge.
