I see those around my pool pumps from time to time, and I don't mind them because I know they keep the rodent population down. But I'm afraid my wife will see one and either have a heart attack, or take a shovel to the snake and accidently take out one of the pump's PVC pipes. Either way, bad.

I was at a pond last night and I looked down and there was a snake swimming right in front of me.. it looked alot like this one.. but can these rat snakes swim?? Or was it something else??

Not a copperhead. To verify, grab it by the head and use long needle nose pliers to open its mouth to check for fangs. But, it's not venomous I am sure.

I am going with corn snake, like bowfin said. Play with it all you like, but release it afterwards. Good day.

release it in front of a shot gun as you pull the trigger. that way you can be sure after a few shots tha its safe.

It looks like a baby Burmese python to me.
