Got to Katie Woods ramp appx. 11:00 to find the entire dock blocked because 2 idividuals were working on their trailers in the parking lot and had their boats tied to the dock.

I appreciate as much as the next guy that trailers have to be worked on, mine probably fairly soon, but why blook off an entire dock and make everybody else beach their boats, possible among or on nasty rocks? Are you guys better than the rest of us so that you can make everybody else beach their boat instead of you?

Really interested in the answer to that.

Boat Etiquette.. Sometimes people just are not thinking...

Gets me fired up... My grief is folks backing down a trailer.. Just learn how to do it before you come to the water.. Or atleast let some folks go infront of you if you think its going to be tuff.. I love watchin my fiance back the trailer down.. Its priceless seeing her do it...

As long as you are b thching. How about people who occupy parking space's who no trailer?
I was there this morning about that time I also seen the two boats. I have just started beaching my boat because I have Hamby's and Im tired of getting in situations where other dumbasssses affect my mood.
I do so hear you though......

Don't be afraid to defend common decency! If it's dock antics going on, I will usually offer my help to get them out of my way. Most folks will accept; I ask what I can do as opposed to giving orders. If they are unsure, it will show and then you can offer up your thoughts.

Helped a guy by himself a month or so ago get a good size boat on the trailer in a stiff side wind... he knew what he was doing but just needed a dude to hold a rope for him. It was the difference between a total pain in the butt doing it with one guy and a super easy trailer load having the 2nd guy. Probably less than 2 minutes after I jumped out of the truck to help, he was pulled up the ramp and I was getting ready to back down.

Some people just aren't nice or got pride and will refuse the help... not much you can do except tell the ramp operator and maybe ask for your money back so you can go elsewhere. Let'em know you expect them to take action when some yahoo is hoggin the ramp for no good reason.

I live on Belton and sometimes its more fun on weekends to just watch people at the ramps. My favorite is the one that backs down with lights on bright of course in the middle. Than take about 15 minutes taking stuff from the car and putting in the boat.

I want to second LoginName's comment. Sometime the best thing to do is offer a little bit of help. You never know when another hand or tool will get both them and you on the water faster. I intentionally left out opinion. That me thing is a lot more recognizable in other people.

That is not to say that most of those things listed don't annoy me too.

You go to a Bass Tourament in the early morning and the guys can unload 30 boats in a matter of minutes

Go to a ramp during the day and it can be a Cluster.

I love the one i saw last weekend at Ray Roberts . Guy pulls up with a boat and rig that cost more than my first house. He gets out of the truck STARTS THE 300HP outboard ,revs it lets it warm up (not in the water yet) then backs it down the ramp into the water . Gotta love that

p102, i understand your frustration. but that is a public dock. those guys had every right to tie up. they probably didnt want to beach their boats any more than the other boaters there.

now if they were blocking the boat ramp, thats a different story. but simply tying up to the dock (to work on their trailers or whatever) doesnt put them in the wrong, in my opinion. they might have moved if you asked them. or maybe you could sign a petition to the city asking for a sign saying the dock is for loading/unloading boat only...

just my 2 cents.

I believe there is already something there that says that. I use that ramp with a friend and there is a BIG sign on the sidewalk to the dock.
