I'm looking for a wide brim hat that will provide good sun protection while fishing. Not real crazy about what I see at Bass Pro or Academy. Any suggestions where to look?

I like a baseball type hat with a small towel attached with 3 safty pins. You can attach forward on visor sides of hat to knock out side glare. Have even thought about attaching with velcro. Works good protecting your neck, ears and face. Did this after seeing a movie, about the French Legion, years ago. Hint use cap with a dark colored underside visor for better vison with your polorized glasses. You can use your favorite team towel.

Here's something fromt he fly fishing world. It's a little pricy (just like everything meant for fly fishing), but I love my Tilley hat. They stay on in the wind and when at speed. I use it in the rain and to stay cool in the summer. Tilley Hats

Go to Sunbodyhats.com They're made of palm strands. To change the shape you just dunk the whole thing in water and shape it and when it dries it holds the new shape. I've got one with a "Gus" crown and a 7 inch brim with pencil roll. That's right...7 inch. Best damn hat I've ever had.

Something completly differnt................... I like to wear my straw hat in the sun when working and would love to wear it fishing, too. However, the wind and the hat don't work together. I have tried the Magellan large brim hats, but they are so heavy they are HOT! And, the sun seems to always find an angle to get by the brim. So................I started using a BUFF. It is a face mask, and it can be worn in many ways. It is NOT hot and certain models offer UV protection; hinse the FISHING models.....CHECK IT OUT! My son and I both wear them now...... https://www.buffwear.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/1

I purchased a Tilley hat in 1999. Even though a bit expensive, well worth the cost. Good sun protection, easy to keep, crushable, no issues.

Another vote for the Tilley hats. The last hat you will have to buy. Lifteime warranty, floats, UV protection, and stylish.
