I have been using 8'0 gamagotsu octapus circle hooks, and have been having pretty good hook-up ratio, but like Whisker-Ray said you need to loosen your drag. I still miss some fish sometimes, but usually they are channel cats that arn't big enough to get the whole bait in their mouth, sometimes I catch them and they are small, but a lot of time they will just keep on and rob your bait.

Rich, give me a call next time your out at Cally, I'll give you a few Team Catfish hooks to try out. It's what Jonelle caught her fish on and all we use to fishing cut bait or live. We've caught 14 inch channels on 5/0's too many times to count. Let the hook work for you..like said above leave the saddle with some gap. CLiff

I agree with the Croaker Hook theory. I have not learned the art of not setting the hook that's required with circle hooks. Not jerking the snot out of the rod when it's bent over with a good bite goes against every fiber of my being... I use the croaker hooks with cut and live bait and have good success with every species I use them on.

+2 on The Team Catfish hooks. I have had several instances where i was not even paying attention and those double action hooks did all the work. They are lethal
