Sorry but, I left my tinfoil hat at home this morning so the black helicopters aren't visible to me. Enjoy the paranoia session though. laugh

Next thing you know, there'll be some company driving around town taking pictures of you house and putting them on the internet. WHen that happens, we'll all be doomed, dooooomed I tell you.

I see this post as nothing more than to bring this to the attention of boat owners. So need to become a smart arrse about it.

Thanks KD for the heads up.

Thanks USA-1.

You're right, it's nothing more than a "customer service" type announcement. I run a store demo so I'm the least affected by this of anyone. My TX numbers go back to the dealer. But I thought as often as the users of the TFF like to show off their rides they should know folks have the ability to look up their address unless they blur out the TX numbers.

Ironically it's probably the non-boat owners who are making the most jokes.

Now if you own a boat I can watch you launch your boat and I know that you're on the water and not at home. I also know your address. How hard is it to watch all the boats launch at a tourney and call my homies back in the hood until we find a few houses within a 20 mile radius of us? Now all those houses are empty while you fish the tourney.

If you post photos of your boat on here I now know where you live at and where you store it (if you show it in your garage).

Also if you're stopped at a street light the guy next to you with a smart phone knows who you are and where you live.

Just knowing appraisel numbers, names and addresses doesn't do much more than put a bunch of junkmail in my mail box.

All of those same houses that are empty during a tourney are going to be empty during the work week too....or the majority of them...Thats when most of the daytime burglaries occur anyways....I think yall are blowing this way out of proportion. Criminals mostly drive around and case their target homes before committing burglaries....they don't go to the local boat ramp and scope out TX#'s.....or go to the trouble of running license plate numbers to find out where you live. they are more interested n drving by your home to see how protected it is, to see if they can openly see anything of value, if you leave your garage door open during the daytime or at night, if you have a bunch of newspaper's on your driveway indicating you might be out of town.....Again...I dont agree with this either....but I'm not worried in the least bit by it. I'm more worried about going out to eat with my family without getting hit by a drunk or being robbed while in a convenience store or something like that more than I am of this. Just my .02.

You can do the same thing with a license plate number.

Look guys. This is a GREAT service. Im buying a boat from a guy. I take the TX numbers and make sure that this boat is registered/OWNED by the one selling it. If you don't have a title to a boat you can find out who owned this last and contact them. (I've had to do it) Its a GREAT idea to blur the TX numbers when you are trying to sell or you post on the Net. There are crooks out there but don't knock the service.

Given your history with boat purchases, there should be a database to warn the seller, shouldn't there? rolfmao
