I'm pretty new to fishing for bass and other freshwater fish. Could someone tell me what lures work well for catching bass? I fish in the Denton area. And I do mostly bank fishing.
Thanks

I don't have a boat or friends with a boat, so all I do is bank fish.
When chad start jumping I toss a storm wildeye soft chad 3" and get a bite every cast.
Otherwise I like worms with a whacky head. I have been catching LMB using green worms, with a splitshot butted up against the hook, and reeling them in REAL slow with jerking/wiggling of the tip of my pole. I stress SLOW.
mmmm fish!

I haven't tried them yet, but hear alot of good about them. I keep snagging white ones out of Lake Travis that people lost. I might try them one of these days as its not my money down the crapper when I lose them!

You should try swimbaits. Those are really good.

Nice to see that ur becoming a fish nut LOL....AHHHH What Lure to use??? Thats the age old question....WEll it really depends on what ur trying to catch.... Small fish like Small lures and Big fish like Big lures...And sometimes it does'nt matter what size the lure is fish will still try and eat it...
When Iam river fishing I like to start out with Lite Tackle. What I mean by LITE TACKLE is small 1/8oz lures like ( 2in.grub worms with a jig head ) (rooster tails) and ( rubber shad )..I uselly use BIGGER LURES with more open water like Lakes or Big Ponds. BIG LURES Like Spinner Baits and top water Buzz Baits work real well in open water and also in rivers cause that dont hang up as much...AND BASS love'em.......WEll good luck and happy fishing...

Try a rattle trap. Buy a red colored one and one with a Crome and Blue back, in either 1/4oz or 1/2oz. Usually always catch fish on these. Just throw it out there reel in with a decent pace, not much to it. $2.96 at Walmart right now.

Sometimes the fish are deeper, sometime shallow. You need variety. Also, certain colors work well in certain areas depending on if your water is typically clear or stained, cloud cover, etc. I'd say get some jig heads, worms (7" and 4")[can be fished on hooks or on the jigs], a topwater lure, a deep diving crank bait, and maybe a spinner bait. This way you have some variety because some days they will bite one type lure an not another. When selecting your bait, try to match the forage species they typically feed on in your area. Learn how to use the first set of lures before buying a ton of them, otherwise you'll get overwhelmed trying to figure out which ones to try on a particular day. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Rattletraps havent seem as if they havent bene producing alot lately for me....Spinnerbaits are great IMO....good for locating fish in a pond...I cant stress how all around soft plastics are..I ALWAYS fish a Texas rigged worm...2/0 hook with a bullet weight...let it sink to the bottom...bump it 3-4 times..reel in slack repeat the entire retireve...lately Lake fork Ring fry worms weightless have also been doing well...cast out..let it sink a bit and just twitch it really slow all the way in....I hope this helps..you cant go wrong with a Texas rigged worm!! Motoroil/ red flake is my Fav color
