Went out there with the stepson on Sunday to see if we could catch a few perch just for fun. ABSOLUTELY nothing happening. Tried worms, june bugs and grashoppers. As I am reeling my ultralight Zebco 11T triger spin in to leave a small 15" bass hammered my nightcrawler right at the bank. Healthy looking fish but weird colored. It was definately a LMB, but not green like I have always caught them. This one was almost silvery / white. Almost looked like he was bleached out from the sun. Anyone ever seen anything like that????

In ponds in my area, it is very common for LMB to have that same look. Sometimes the lateral line is almost not visible and as you described, they have a silver look. I'v always attributed it to a lower ph in our water.

Hi

Ive asked in a separate forum if anyone ever fishes in George Bush park but never got a response. I see several ponds and creeks on Google maps

Which one(s) do you exactly go to?

Ive recently moved near the Westchase district and Ive been wanting to take my 3-year old son out to fish in a good pond.

A fishes coloration has a lot to do with water clarity. In water with low visibility they are often pail in color while fish that are in clear water are very dark and tend to have more spots or bars that are visible. In fact I have caught fish from muddy ponds that were very pail in color and held them in a tank of clear water for transport and after a short period of being in clear water their color will come back.
Also there is a distinct color difference in Bass that are raised on Feed pellets. Not so much silvery but a pail color in comparison to fish that feed on natural forage.

Here you can see the Bass in my left hand is a bass raised on feed, they typically have a pail color and small mouths, the other bass is a Native Bass raised on forage, note the color difference.
