Seems everyone talks pretty highly of secret 7. I usually fish with shad thought I would try something different. Finally broke down and ordered some today. Looking forward to gettin this stuff in. Looking for advice on how to fish it. When? Where? How? Anything helps never fished manufactered bait.

I have had my best luck with it in shallow water close to structure I am talking under 5ft deep and as close as possible to the structure like down trees, heavy grass, hard rip-rap and the likes I am not an expert at it but I fished it on carolina rig with looper rig. I lose alot of hooks and rigs but the payout is worth it. I seem to catch alot better fish than with punch bait. Hopefully someone else will speak up cuz I only used it for a little bit last yr.

I just bought some a couple of weeks ago and fished it under a slip cork, in about 25 foot of water. The catfish were hangin out around a hump in the afternoon. I did pretty good on it, it seemed to keep up with our homeade stuff pretty well.

I fish it in the same places that I use Shad. I've had good success with the Dead Red Tubes and the Furry thang bait holders. I really like the fact that I can use single hooks with this stuff instead of using treble hooks.

A lot of people will carry a bait like Secret-7 on the boat with them as backup bait if they can't get shad or if they want to increase the number of bites they are getting and catch more fish. I think shad is your best bait for larger cats, but I have seen the prepared baits bring in fish on many occassions.

FishHauler took me to school when we fished Ivie last year. He was using Secret 7 and I was using DK's cheese and blood. He out-fished me about 2 to 1 using the 7.

Secret 7 is great, it is not to expensive and the hooks from Team Catfish are awesome and lethal. Anything that put its mouth around that hook is going to stay hooked for sure.

Try this.......
STIR the bait very, very well. In my opinion the more you stir it the better it gets. After stiring the Secret 7 gets super sticky like peanut butter. When it is like that its ready to go!
Put the bait holder in the bait mashing the bait in the holes or loops.
Cast in shallow water or wood cover. Use the wind or current to move the scent of the bait to the fish you are targeting. Shallow points with mudlines are also hot spots. In the spring and summer the wind is your friend at shallow locations.
The one thing I can promise you is, the more you learn about using this bait the more catfish you will catch. Blues and Channels.......

Will Secret 7 catch big blues like shad? Yes, but IMO shad is the best bait...period.
