Nightfishing for sandbass can be productive, but its noticably slower, depending on weather conditions, moon phase and temperature. When its a clear sky with good moonlight, they can look up and see your lure. But when its really dark and cloudy, the will rely alot more on smell and vibration movement. Some of my biggest fish are caught at night when they are less spooked. Fishing at night is a whole new ballgame, especially in a creek. Its very difficult to see where you are casting. The key element is stealth. Do not ever shine your light straight into the water. You must avoid being detected or you will risk spooking the fish.

Fish at the Firewheel bridge at 7am today to 9am. I was very suprise that there was NO ONE under the bridge!!! no tarponfly or any client. I did got like 10 magnums there move down to the creek to pole 10 to 15, and again suprise no one was there either. but saw 2 keystones can floating around where i fish and many dead line hanging from tree. well anyway caught 4 hybrids and 30 sandbass (a few were male so release) but 2 hybrids under 18 were release also the other 2 are over 18. keep only like 12 magnum sanbass and a catfish for my neighbor and give the rest away to a really nice old hispanic man. all fish caught on Xrap rapala, some how got a CATFISH on my RAPALA XRAP. BTW one man was fishing accross from me got like a 9lb hybrid!!! he use minows the size of my tongue, dammm look like minows on steroid!! anyway, i be out there this afternoon after my class over, look for a guy with a yellow bag on my head and a smiley face of course.
