i know a guy that wasnt fishing but was checking the water out to see how it looked but had a pole in his hand walking back up to his car. he hadnt bought an out of state license yet but was thinking of buying one for the day in arkansas. the warden checked the pole in his hand and in the trunk to see if the line was wet.

You wont get caught up in a mess if your buddy doesnt have a license...My buddy didnt have a license and came fishing with me..the GW checked mine and then had my friend follow him to his truck...he didnt bother me not one bit..just checked my license and stringer

I paid for my license to fish, he should have to pay for one too, and he doesnt then that's not fair to me or anyone else that buys a license to fish....Also those two wardens an hour later busted two guys for smoking dope while they were fishing. They did a great job...they're trying to keep that area safe and nice for families to enjoy and for that I thank them

Looks like you're always around when these things go down....judging from your posts - which are all about game wardens and tickets and what's legal and what's not legal. I wonder why that may be...especially being a new member with a handle of bigbrother74...hmmm

I don't know about this...

I think you can be cited on intent, or at least reasonable belief that you're going to go fishing if you have all the gear in your possession at the lake, creek, river, etc...

Reminds me of a joke in the OT - let me see if I can find it...

When I was 15 I was fishing the Sandie run on Marshall Creek. I was with a friend and his dad. The GW came up and checked our stringers and the dad's license. He did not have it and had his equipment taken right there.

Needless to say, that made a HUGE impression on me.

Its the law and I have had it clarified by several game wardens.....they have to see you fishing, ... it would be a scary day when police can start citing people for when they think we are about to do something illegal.

hahaha...I agree completely.

This is that joke that I saw in the OT section...kind of applies here...

You heard about the woman who took her husbands row boat out into the lake. She was reading a book enjoying the sun when the GW came up. He asked her for her FL - she said she didn't have one. He asked " well are you fishing?" - She said "no". He said "Well you have fishing equipment in the boat so I am going to write you a ticket for fishing without a license." She said "OK to go ahead & I'll file rape charges against you this afternoon." He said "what, I am not rying to rape you!" She said "Well you have the equipment to do it on the boat with you!"

I got caught behind the dam at texoma back in the early 80's It was in January and I had been fishing on the texas side, not getting any bites, but in came a big norther and it was really cold, and me and my friend went over to the Okie side. Soon as we got there, two game wardens came to check our license, of course we didn't have any, so they took our drivers license until we called the judge and paid $106.00 a piece, then they sent them back to us. Lesson learned, If I don't have a license, I will before I go!

What are some details on what is an infraction? What if I have not fished yet? What if I just got done fishing? If he confiscates my stuff how do I get it back?
Do carp require a license to fish? What if I fish my parents pond do I still have to get a license ?
How much are the tickets? About the license how long are they good for?
