I'm considering buying a Pro Craft Fish & Ski combo. Anyone ever fish out of one? Did you dig it or is a dedicated bass boat better? I'm not going to ski out of it, but the extra passenger capacity and better wind protection are attractive. Also it seems like it might take the waves better when fishing for Whites on the main lake. Any thoughts? I'd appreciate voices of experience. Dan

My Son has one and loves it. His family enjoys going with him, gives a good dry and warmer ride in rough water or cold weather. He is able to get in some pretty shallow water with his too. The extra passenger room is a plus for some people. I prefer my Bass boat but it's a personal preference thing for sure. Only thing I would recommend to watch out for is the front deck on some are really small and hard to stand up and fish from without walking off the deck. But, that might not be a problem with the way you fish.

i have a 1995 Pro Craft. Its catches fish as good as any. I like it for crappie fishing and bass, but mostly crappie. windshield catch wind if trying to stay in one spot in wind while standing on trolling motor. its what u get used too i guess. my 2 cents worth.

If you're not skiing...go for a center console boat.

I used to have an 18" Hydra Sport Fish N' Ski when my kids were at home. Nothing is perfect, but room for the fam. Like Gloria said, my only real complaint was that the rear deck was huge compared to the front deck. Can't tell you how many times I smacked the front windshield underhand casting a spinner bait. Crappie, sandie/hybrids would be fine.

they call'em a bass boat with a windshield I had one, just not enuf room to fish. Mine was a 19 foot skeeter. If it was a 21 foot it might have been ok. My advice, get a center console

Hey there Tristar! I've got a ProCraft 180 and found that it is a whole lot better for fishing with the family then a bass boat. Plus if you do decide to go skiing its ready to go.
Work is always there, today lets fish!

I had the 20' Fish-n-Ski with a 200 Merc. Good fishing platform sitting still but I hated that boat! Rough arsed ride and that windshield will catch a lot of wind. Great for cold weather though. I hated the dealership support, hated the factory warranty. Had a lot of gelcoat pop-outs where they didn't get the wax out or whatever the hell they do when laminating the fiberglass resulting in a lot of voids that popped up to nickel size but most about the size of a pea. Had a guy look at it and showed me the spots still had the goo(whatever it is) coating in em. Anyways they said those aren't warranted. I say BS. many hoses for livewells and drains were not hooked up properly. Weak arsed trolling motor wiring. It had 8 gage wire from front to back with a 14 gage pigtail for the fuse. That's right, a freakin fuse for a 12/24 MG! Ran it on high chsing my jugs and smoke started boiling out the back. Fuse melted the wires together. Opened the hatch and wires were sizzling melted together! Quickest fix for me was to use my cutters to cut the hot wire cause the batteries sit at the furthest point away possible, the bilge. Best day of my life was when I saw that POS pull out of my driveway! Many love the boats but not me. Had 2 Champions, 17 1/2's, after that and they smoked the procrap in ride and fishability by a longshot even though they were 2 1/2' shorter. I run an 18' Alumacraft CC now. Pretty much through bass fishin ebven though I still chunk a worm or 2. Mainly crappie and catfish. I don't have to worry about scratching pretty things up anymore. Thing about aluminum boats is they blow around very easy, don't ride as well as a fiberglass deep V, not by a hell of a longshot and when ya load em on a trailer sometimes it can be a pain in the arse to get the ribs straddled over the right running board. Gonna get that fixed one of these days, LOL.

I have a Skeeter SL180 fish & ski. Bought it mostly for the family considerations. Here are my 2 cents.
Pros: Big windshield = less wind/spash Will fish in just as small water as a bass boat "family friendly" more passenger room
Cons: Much rougher ride Less covered storage Smaller livewells Smaller fishing platforms
If you're like me, it turned out to be a 98% fishing boat and 2% leisure boat. Go with a bass boat or center console.
