My daughter and i went to RollOver pass yesterday, it was a hug difference from when we went in December, they have filled in alot and dredged around where the RollOver Pass Bait&Tackle used to be, there were alot of people fishing off the bridge, one guy said he caught a flounder but that was about it. There is a small builing set up as a store down from RollOver and also Gulf Coast market (part of it) is open and they have gas there. We ate at Stingaree's and the food was wonderful! It was an inspiration to see what all had been done since December, it looks like people are going back there! Hopefully we can go back soon and fish! ~Angel~

There are two bills in the Texas Legislature that would allow funding for Patterson to close Rollover. It is not closed YET. Please email Patterson (jerry.patterson@glo.state.tx.us) as well as your local representatives and senators and let them know how you feel. Ask for modifications rather than closing Rollover completely down.

The bills are:
HB 3986
SB 2043

The house bill has a public hearing this Wednesday, April 1st, so spread the word!

Things are finally happening here! If you love fishing at Rollover you need to let Jerry Patterson's office know!(jerry.patterson@glo.state.tx.us) He is trying his hardest to close it. Please let your state representative & senator & Galveston county officials know that you don't want the Pass closed. There is a hearing on two bills TOMORROW on closing the pass![/color]

Well I sent him a letter. I know one letter will not make a difference, but many such letters might get his attention.
I think the fix is in, but we can not give up w/o a fight.
I will keep an eye on this, and do whatever I can.
Thanks Rollover Girls.

I don't think a final decision has been made yet but from what I hear and read, it's looking like they are going to close it.

Both passed "favorably" in committee even though was opposition. So look for either one to go to vote soon. Senator Tommy Williams, who proposed the Senate Bill, said the passing of this bill is necessary to start the studies to look for alternatives and to investigate the environmental impacts, etc. Then the Corps of Engineers makes a decision and that could take years.

However, after what I've seen Patterson quoted as saying, I don't think that's what is going to happen. I was just down there yesterday and there's about a 20 ft. tall pile of sand right next to Rollover. I'm sure after it passes he'll dump it in there and ask questions later.
