When using my trolling motor I have to keep my foot on the pedal to keep it going in the desired direction. If I take my foot off it the pedal goes into what I call a neutral position. I have used trolling motors on other boats, and if you point the arrow in a direction, it stays there. Is there any way to fix this issue or tighten it up? Sorry if this doesn't make any sense! Any help is greatly appreciated.

what brand is it..most have an adjustment on pedal, to tighten the cable(s)-- which I think will solve your "loose" problem..

If it's a Motor Guide, you have a bent shaft... That will have to be repaired...

It is a Minn Kota. I can take a pic of the bottom if you think you might be able to tell me where the adjustment is.

It is directly below where the cables go into the foot pedal.
