I have noticed when the fish are slow it is the one thing that will turn a day without fish to some fish in the livewell.

Normally dont use them unless its slow. IMHO

the only problem with them is keeping'em on the hook. They come off if you look at'em twice. but I can tell you if its slow, put one on a hook and it wakes'em up. I've seen that several times.

Thought you only fished with minners Jerry. Might want to let them dry out a bit before you put them on the hook. FYI, put them on a jig instead of a bare hook. hammer

I always keep a jar in the boat. It does help now and again to get the fish to bite.

Keep on fishing.

They stay on the hook better if you take some out of the jar and dry them a little in the sun. Tommy Tidwell taught me that. Well Tommy taught me how to crappie fish in general, been hooked every since.

There is one kind that works better than the others and there is one color of that kind that works better than the other colors of that brand. Thanks Stucky for turnig me on to those!

I dont know if it really wakes the fish up or not, I have more luck with them than without them, what it will do though is I think the fish will hold the jig a little longer which gives you a better hook set.

I use the yellow small ones and my wife uses the large pink ones and both seem to work.

I use them sometimes but usually not. I prefer to catch a fish and drop the jig right back down without worrying about a nibble.grin

thumb You're welcome buddy and an very good friend showed me!

I am with Blake. They definitely work better for you if the bite is tough. I also will put one on the first time I drop a jig in a particular spot. Once I catch that first fish with it I don't put another one on and continue to catch most of the fish from that one spot that I believe are there. I feel that the nibble wakes 'em up but watch out! You will get "robbed" often and it's not a perch that is taking that nibble from you!

BTW..how the heck to the crappie pull that nibble of without getting hooked? hmmm
