Fished Tawakoni the past few days and it is definitely Springtime over there! Warm fronts, cold fronts, big hyrid, big striper, big sandies, big yeller bass, and some small sandies too. Shhhh..... grin We have literally caught fish all over the lake this week. Up North and down South. Seems like if they are not on one end, the other is pretty good, just wish I could figure out where to get started in the morning, lol! The week started out with a mid-day bite. Birds were working and a ton of solid Twak keeper hybrid were just below. Dont know how many we caught Wednesday, but the number might seem like a lie, so I'm glad I didn't count. Thursday was not as good, but the bite was on earlier in the day. Friday started out with a bang! We caught about 15 GIANTS right at daybreak under the birds, but it was only for about an hour and a half. When the fish broke up and the birds left it was a long day of reeling in sandies, 147 of 'em. Saturday a Famine came to the lake frown Never saw the birds working and we hit about every place that they have been in the last couple months. All we caught was sandies and really small hyrid. Finally found some humoungeous sand bass about lunch, but the Striper and Hybrid are still laughing at us. Most of the big fish have been out in the deep stuff. 30-38 feet, but they are just off the edges of humps and points, so they are finally starting to relate to structure. Makes it a lot easier to stay on the fish instead of having them roam around a big flat out on deep water. The Shanghai Swim Bait in the silver glitter was out producing my usual favorite (sassy shad) about 3 to 1 this week. flehan Not knocking the sassy shad, Moe sells them too, but the Shanghai was spanking them so bad that I put all the sassy shad away for a while! As for the sand bass, they were not so picky. We caught them on pretty much every slab Moe sells, as well as on the CC slab, TNT 180s, and the RJR Beast. This is a good time to clean out the 'Ol box of slabs. They were caught on pretty much everything! My good camera bit the dust this week. I got a few pics of some fish with a camera phone from Thursday and Fridays catch, but I may get in some better pics in my email in the next few days. Saw Redfin, Ruben, Fastguy, and several others on the lake this week. Good to see you guys out there!

Great report Matt. I hope you are right and the fish are starting to relate to structure. Looks like you had a great trip.

nice report lakeguide

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Good fishing.

I don't trust a catfisherman who doesn't have shad scales on his hands or his reels...period.
