I rencenly put new toilets in a rent house. One of the toilets releases a couple of large air bubbles from the bottom of the bowl when it is flushed. The bubbles come up at the beggining of the flush and the flush is actually very poor. Could it just be the design of the toilet causing this or could I have done something wrong during the installation?

I'm no expert but I've seen this before... some toilets are just made that way...

Only thing I might do is make sure that the toilet is level.

Good luck to ya

Did you use bowl wax when you set the toilet? The bubble coming from the bottom would seem that the toilet isn't making proper contact with the flange...Otherwise, I'd check the gasket between the tank and the toilet...

Sounds like a cheap or poor designed toilet.

Now of day they put a 3" flush valve,(Versus a standard 2") in the back of some toilet and they will flush like a champ.

There is a restriction in the drain line. Roto Rooter time.

I doubt it

Does the tub/shower and vanity flow normal, if so no restriction in drain.

I don't doubt it. A big wad of tolet paper in the sewer fitting won't affect the other drains. The bubbles are coming from the vent pipe.

I guess if he didn't remove all the shipping packing, that could be a cause.

The vent stack is probably clogged. At least that's what it was when it happened to mine.

I go with the vent. It may be clogged or the vent isnt properly set up in the first place. I installed dual toilets in a bathroom during new construction in 2004. The house was on piers so it was easy to relocate the vent. Just make sure the vent opening ( a T or an elbow) is located a good bit above the main sewer line below the toilet. Dont use a regular 90 degree elbow, but rather a sweeping elbow from the line to the vent.

That is exactly what mine was doing after I had some construction people working on the house. Lots of bubbles during the flush and a very poor flush. I knew the toilet was flushing fine before they were here so I removed the toilet and ran a snake through the pipe and that fixed the problem. There was a clog in the bend in the pipe.

If you think you have a drain problem.

Pull your toilet and run a water hose in the closet flange (hole in the floor your toilet sits on) and see if you have good flow.

If you think you have a vent problem (Which would be rare), Run a water hose down your vent from the roof and run water again.

Go to you clean out and pull a cap/unscrew and see if you have water flow similiar to the hose flow leaving the house

That will get you narrowed down on the problem
