OK guys, first the good:

Surf was FLAT. I mean nothing. At the jetties I am talking 3" high waves at most. Very very calm. The beach is fairly clean and you can drive the entire beach in 2wd.

Now the bad:

I tried everywhere and not a single bite. We got there about 10am and drove directly to the mouth of the Brazos. Flat surf, no wind and the river wasn't very muddy, even with the rain we have had over the last week. I threw everthing I had at em. Live shrimp, mullet, dead shrimp and mullet, Gulp new penny shrimp, spoons, jigs, rat-l-traps everything. Not so much as a bite in 3 hours so we headed to the jetties. Same baits, same results. I tried bottom, freeline, popping corks, everything. We then headed to the intercoastal under the bridge. Again tried it all and caught 1 3" hardhead. On the bright side, I was out fishing and the weather was nice but not a fish to be found.

Were you fishing yesterday evening?? If so there was a slack tide and it was very very slow for us out in the bays in the area and everyone we talked to, so you arent alone. No tide usually equals very little bite.

We fished from 3-18 to 3-22, early AM to late PM and all we caught was one measly hardhead off of Surfside. I had my boat with me so we ran out about 15 miles on 3 occasions hitting rig after rig and a few wrecks and didn't have a bite. All in all it was a great weekend but it would have been nice to catch a few fish.

I usually dont ever waste my time with the jetties. I grew up around there and have never really caught anything worth talking about, cept one time when we got into the mackeral. Good fish can be cuaght there but its not worth the trouble to walk out there and fight the people. I prefer the pass and the mouth. Sometimes its hit or miss out at the mouth. The just opened the mouth of the bernard up. Dredged it out i heard. May be a good spot for a boat.

If I fished for money.........I'd be broke.

In a world of compromise.....Some don't.

the jetties are a very good spot, it starts getting really good at the end of april for trout. I always get there before the sun comes up and i am gone before the crowds get there, plus normaly I am leaving with my limit of trout and a few reds thrown in every know and then. Mostly all I use is artificial lures.
