That's awesome! I can't wait!

I spent a week in Juneau year before last but it was in july so the kings and halibut were there. A friend in Juneau rented a 38' bareboat and 5 of us spent a week cruising around and fishing. We stopped in Hoonah and rode the new zip slide that has a mile long cable from the mountain top. Crab, shrimp, clams and fish to fill the belly. I have fished Alaska 26 times and now I prefer to fish the kings on the Nushagak out of Bristol Bay. I do think march is early for salmon or halibut but the lake fishing might be good. I would take a lot of warm clothes and some good rain gear. Have fun on your trip.

Two summers ago a friend and I went to Alska on a do-it-yourself flyfishing only trip. We rented a motorhome in Anchorage and spent the month of August traveling around fishing. It was incredible. I caught all five species of Pacific Salmon on a fly, and we caught fish everyday until we were tired. Nothing better than grilled silver salmon on the bank of the river. I'm a trout junkie and we caught huge rainbows, dolly varden, and grayling along with the salmon. Gotta go back someday soon.

Woohoo!!! I'll be there June 3-19 to see my daughter and grandsons in Fairbanks. I will carry fly tackle for grayling but from what I've heard, it will be too early for the salmon. Going to Denali and a day cruise out of Valdez. Can't wait! I think the kings run in June in the south/Anchorage area.

There is a reason the English language has punctuation.

I went halibut fishing in Homer, Alaska two years ago...oh man, those things are hard to reel in, but I remember taking 30 pounds of Halibut meat back with me to Texas. Some good tasting fish.
I love Alaska though, everything about it. Well, except that high prices.
