Here's the thing.

I think tube fishing could be great...I would like to know costs to get started and where to go in and around the DFW area. My only concern...poisonous snakes. What is the strategy when you are in the tube and a four foot cottonmouth is swimming towards ya'?

A smack with a rod tip has worked well in the past for me - a 1/4 oz jig works as well if he becomes a little aggressive. smile

Two wheels or two reels, either way I'm happy.

Let's handle those bass better. Use two hands. M'kay? - How to Handle Bass

learn how to identify the snake, I think you'll find alot fewer poisonous snake in Texas waters than you might have thought. I have been using these tubes for years and know alot of people using them. I am yet to personally know of anyone being bitten while in a tube

Same here. I witnessed 1 "check out" a buddy at Rhodes last year (nvatexan, to be precise), but his screaming scared it away. rolfmao Actually, it never got closer than about 10 feet, but that's close enough. Personally, I've only encountered generic water snakes, and they all gave me a wide berth.
