Any tips on finding shad to throw a cast net on LL??? Where do I start? I've seen some people throwing nets near the tire barriers by Sneaky Petes....

try at boat ramps ... or the cove at Lake Park ... or rocky shoreline (where the rocks extend well into the water) ... tire barriers & marina slips are also good to try.

If you can get into the 121 cut when there isn't heavy boat traffic, you can sometimes find shad there too

Zeek is the resident shad fisherman smile

Whenever I fish with Zeek, we will toss out a few live bait rigs while we slab. It can get interesting with multiple fish on at a time, but it usually works real well.

Try small sunfish. The Hybrids love them!

hmmmm, never thought of using small brim... I even have a neighbor hood pond teaming with 3" bluegills ripe for the pickin. Great idea to bring some, incase I can't net any shad.

Hey Zeek... what time do you go chunking a cast net? Just before your trip, or do you have to go out real early in the morning???

I typically just get them when I launch the boat, although I bet that early morning before sunrise would be easier. If you go with sunfish, use smaller ones with red colors to them (redear, pumpkinseed etc)
