I am planning on coming down to Texas in April to do some fishing. I would be bringing my Michigan registered boat. Do I have to have any kind of Texas permit to use my boat in Texas waters? (freshwater lakes) Thanks.

The non-resident fishing license (annual or temp) is one thing you'll need to fish Texas waters Neither the boat nor the tow vehicle has to have any special permit to cross the Texas state line and visit. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/boat/

Your out of state registration is valid here for upto 60 days I believe. If you move here, the registration needs to be moved over to Texas. Registration must be CURRENT in home state. Also need to have your certificate of number on board, PFD for each person on board the boat, type IV throwable, a fire extinguisher and a sound producing device..... and lights at nite too..... hope that helps......
