Cliff and I have hit some local ponds this week at night. I'll keep the name of the ponds secret to help prevent hoards of fishermen from decending on them and wiping them out. The crappie are very active and very shallow in these ponds. On two outings this week, I have caught around 12 crappie, and Cliff has caught more, many of them real nice size such as this  and this  We've caught them on black streamers, just a couple feet from shore. We also have caught some bass too. Cliff caught this real nice bass, we think a 5 or 6lb fish:  and I caught a few like this :  The most excitement I had was when I hooked into this nice catfish. It was quite the fight, that fish took some line!  pretty fun.. seems fish are turning on good now!

Sounds like a great time. Maybe with my schedule I need to do more night fishing. For a carp guide, Cliff really caught a nice bass. Maybe he's in the wrong field?

I used a 7 wt. Overkill for the crappie but I had planned on bass mainly.

I used my 9', 6/7-wt St. Croix.
I was really fishing for carp out there, but a few trash fish got on my line.
