well i know not right place but had to rant..decided to take a guy from work fishing yesterday after work so we cut out early at 4 to get on water about 4:20...well after fishing for a few hours we decided call it in since it was getting dark..after running to ramp and him backing my truck in he gets out says hey man notice anything wrong...at first i say no and then he points it out..tailgate is GONE...mind you i have alot of custom work done inside and a little out to my truck as its my pride and joy and there was not another scratch on it...just tailgate gone...all in all its horrible how the world has gotten that someone will walk up or drive up to ur truck and just say hey i want this tailgate i'll get some money off it...anyone know where i can get another 08 chevy silverado tailgate in black at??...i cant find one anywhere on net..found white one but really dont wanna get it re-painted...oh and to top it off first fish of evening i hook was one about 8 pounds on lizard that i lost at boat trying to lip....just wasn't my day i tell u

My tailgate was stolen in Dallas about 10 years ago. Called salvage yards around town and found one and had it repainted. The whole thing is a scam. The salvage yards buy stolen tailgates and then resell them to the people who have had them stolen.

I now use a hose clamp to secure my tailgate on the side that allows it to come loose. Arrange the hose clamp so it is hard to get to and the thieves will go to the next truck.

when I got my 08 I put a lock on it before I drove it off the lot. I think a new one is about 500 to 800.there is some low live out there.months ago they were still the mirrows too

Lower your tailgate and back into a light pole putting a dent in the thing. They will leave you alone. :-)

luckily with insurance and a police report i have a $50 deductible that doesnt go against me my agent said..praise lord for that one...next time cant they steal the whole truck..i want a tahoe next.

Mine has a lock on it by the handle. I usually keep it locked when I'm traveling to keep people from stealing things out of the back.

yeah, a couple of years ago i walked out from my girlfriends apartment and saw my tail lights stolen. these guys are ruthless... and with times getting harder and harder, i'm sure it'll get worse.

i always hate hearing about stupid stuff happening at the area fishin holes.

I had an 80lb concrete bulldog taken from my front doorstep a couple days ago, which was about 2 feet from my boat. Too hell with the scumbags and make sure you raise YOUR kids correctly since theirs will have criminal record and never own anything decent that they didn't have to steal.
