Wanted to get out today on Grapevine or Ray Roberts, but not crazy about fighting winds. I read the blogs here last fall about the lakes in Andrew Brown Park. Anyone know whether the crappie are hitting there yet?

Yes, these are the lakes in Coppell in Andrew Brown Park. I couldn't find the places on the lakes as described in this message from last Fall. I didn't know how the lakes were numbered or couldn't find the spots. No crappie today only a small LM on a spinner bait. If mdtxhybrid can clarify, I would really appreciate the help. Scoop

The "front pond", the one with the dock, is decent for channel cats, LMB and crappie. In fact, it is stocked with 3 lb channel cats so it has a healthy population. I have caught a 4lb bass out of there, seen a 5 lb bass, and caught many more. In the spring, that pond is on fire with crappie, big ones too, on either side of the dock.
The third pond sucks and is shallow.
The fourth and last pond is my favorite. It is FULL of crappie and bass - big ones. There is a concrete spillway structure on the southwest side that is excellent in spring for crappie because it has a good drop off there...
pm me if you want more details

Oh yes, I think I may have started that discussion(don't remember completly). mdtxhybrid is right. He gives some good info on all those lakes(there's actually only 3 not 4 ponds). Although that third pond he talks about(really second) is very shallow you can still catch monster bream there off that little ramp. I've also heard about 10lb carp in there? Tried my carp bait I always use there and didn't get a bite. A little shallow for them I think. Who knows though? I may be wrong. The first pond is where i've had the most luck. I've caught some big channel cats and LMB's there before. Although it seems like the fishing hasen't been as good there the past year or so. Do the turtles affect the fish in any way? I've been seeing(and sometimes catching), a large amount of turtles at that first pond.
Go fish!

Actually mdtxhybrid was right, there are 4 ponds and Grapevine Creek has been excellent the last month for good size largemouth. The pond with the dock is actually the 2nd pond if you're working Eastwards. The first pond has a really small concrete dock and I almost never here anyone talking about it (probably because not to many people know it's there). It's hidden behind/West of the Coppell Aquatic Center. Here's a map: http://maps.google.com/maps?sourceid=gma...;mid=1237752584
