We've been catching some huge specs in the north/ middle of the lake under the birds. Mostly hitting topwater and ratltrapps. Caught one this evening at 10 pounds. Look for the birds and watch for fish chasing shrimp on top.

That makes one of us. I haven't caught a dang thing since I have moved back. I fish from the bank in different places but still, I see people catching limit in 2 hours, and I havent caught ONE in 3 months.

Right now it seems most of the fish are in the middle of the lake so it does make it tough fishing from the bank. It will get better this summer though.

Is it ok to take a bass boat into Sabine lake? Is this water brackish or straight up saltwater? Also, is this easy to navigate by boat if you have never been there before/
Thanks In Advance

No picture! I was in a big hurry because the wind wasn't blowing that day and forgot the camera. Nofish alot of people fish it with bass boats just wash it down good afterwards. The trailer is what I would worry about. Launch in one of the rivers connected to the lake and you won't have a problem. Fisheye the redfish bite has been awesome since Ike came through. Didn't hurt the lake at all. Bluewave I think it's a lake and not a bay because it's not directly on the coast. It empties into the ship channel about 4-5 miles from the jetties.

My son in law went there last weekend and didn't do any good. Said the water didn't look good. I did hear they were catching drum.

New to town, live in Lumberton. Where is the easiest place to put the boat in the water to fish Sabine? The only place I have been to down there is PLeasure Island. Any help is appreciated.

Pleasure island has a boat ramp. If you want to fish the south end you can put in at the causeway bridge.
